Carlos Boozer gets snubbed on reserve All Star Spot

Chris Kaman was named an All Star today to replace Brandon Roy who will miss the ASG because of a hamstring injury.  Chris Kaman huh?  Not Carlos Boozer?  Not Mother?  Sorry, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels quotes always seem necessary.  Let’s compare their stats…Boozer’s and Kaman’s…not Mother’s stats.

Kaman:                                  Boozer:

Ok, so they are pretty even.  Kaman scores a point more but grabs nearly 2 fewer boards per game.  Kaman blocks more shots but Boozer gets more steals.  Boozer is the clear winner on assists and is actually a pretty good passer for a big man.  Boozer shoots a better percentage from the field and from the line.  Kaman has missed more games than Boozer this year.

If Kaman is better I would invite you to point out in what way.  Oh, and Kaman averages nearly 2 more minutes a game so Boozer does the same in less time.  Just to be clear, their numbers are nearly the same so what does each bring to the team?  Well, Utah is on an 8 game win streak and have won 12 of their last 13 games and sit at 31-18.  The Clippers are a meager 21-29 and have lost 7 of their last 10.  So Kaman isn’t making his team any better, is putting up similar, if not worse stats than Boozer and is an All-Star while Carlos Boozer isn’t?

I’m just going to throw this out there…could Deron Williams’ bid to the All Star Game be the reason Boozer is not getting his?  Don’t get me wrong, I think Williams deserves to go as much as just about anyone but I wonder if Stern didn’t actually think Williams deserved the nod and is now punishing Boozer since they feel like they already went out on a limb for DWill.  I don’t know if that’s true…just wondering how this has happened.
